The First Tee Atlanta at John A. White
John A. White Park Golf Course is a great venue for The First Tee Program. With a large practice facility that easily accommodates hundreds of children, it has multiple targets, a chipping area, a large putting green, and a practice bunker. The facility, which is open to the public daily with the exception of Saturday mornings when the children’s class is in session, offers a nine-hole golf course with a mix of challenging holes and great greens. Financial proceeds from public use of the golf course support the youth program.
The First Tee Program provides academic support and health and wellness programs. Youth members and their parents engage in a physical fitness challenge, where participants identify areas of wellness they want to address, such as weight loss or increased stamina and flexibility, and use health monitors to track daily levels of activity and their overall progress. A weekly exercise class is held at John A. White Park to further support the participants in their goals and foster a sense of connectedness.
